It is black now, all! A sooted veil--a funeral pall. Beauty inherent still, Cool winds with whispered eerie call. Lightening flew--mere Thorian will-- And torrents from the sky it spill, Yet now in silent slumber fall Burnt timbers on a darkened hill. There! life in anquish, fleeing past, A solitary raven lingers last. He does not fear the powdered limb, Nor shun the stench of smoldering ash. The pyre seems to nourish him, Like bringing forth unholy whim. While death lies velvet, being massed, He sings his song of requiem!

The dawn has yet to break, And twilight seals my wake. One million tiny diamonds Light night like small snowflake. To be among the silence, To stay between the mass, I feel like just an object, A moment 'bout to pass. Though many others live here, Upon this planet Earth, I've not begun to know them, Not one beyond my birth. The vastness of my surroundings From universe, abound, Puts my thoughts in deepest wonderment, Makes me shiver from the sound. And even in the city, Where night falls, sleeping deep, The rain appears like broken glass Upon this blackened sweep. The night will hold me from my tasks, And weave me in its spell, To move me on to other lives, Of which I cannot tell.

oh where are you going in the dark? | your headlamps aglow to light paths in the night? will somebody stop just to take me along? let me ride, for i have nothing to do. i have lived here awhile, all my old friends have moved. on a desolate bridge i stare, waiting, the misty-grey freeway rolls on, i have loved in this city, but love now has long since gone. alone and afraid here i stay, to watch as life passes by, will somebody stop just to take me along? oh where are you going in the dark? may i follow into your destiny? when i search for mine it is gone. if you should just stop to take me along?
